This post is all about Nick Ford the legendary screen printing and dyeing tech tutor at Ravensbourne. Nick taught Gav and Mika almost everything they know about screen printing and dyeing so this is a little salute to our print hero.
Nick started his career at Ravensbourne 35 years ago, the same year of the Queen’s Silver Jubilee and has been patiently teaching screen printing and dyeing to fashion and textile students ever since. His is well known within the Ravensbourne community as being super knowledgable and helpful. When asked how he has dealt with stroppy fashion students all these years he says,
‘When it all comes out perfect, goes down the catwalk and the smile on the students’ face…. that’s my favourite moment.’
Awwwww!

Awwwww!

Last week we had super fun showing Susie Lau of stylebubble.co.uk around our studio. Have a look at her epic blog post here. Here are some pictures of Gav and Susie printing heat reactive ink for a scarf.

New screens YEAH!

We’ve started printing a new set of sample packs showing all our lovely techniques. Next step is to laser cut them down to size.

It’s a bit difficult to stay clean when you’re a screen printer so here’s a homage to our aprons that over the years have taken the brunt of spillages, dirty hands and colour testing to keep us looking pretty.

Oh how rude of us not to show you the new studio sooner. Have a gander at these pictures or give us a call if you’d like to pop round for coffee.
