Dr. Dee

Following a successful run at Manchester’s Palace Theatre as part of the Manchester International Festival 2011, ‘Dr. Dee - An English opera’ will be returning to the stage at The London Coliseum from 25th June until 7th July this year.
Directed by Rufus Norris and starring Damon Albarn (who also composed the score!), the opera is based on the life of John Dee - the ‘quintessential Renaissance man’.
Reviews from the show’s first stint promise us not only a scintillating biographical account of Dee’s life (a formidably educated alchemist, astrologer, physicist, philosopher and advisor to Elizabeth I, whose penchant for the occult led to his demise and disgrace); but also a visually dazzling feast of opulent dreaminess.
We’re proud to claim a little of that praise at the Elizabeth I dress (which is suspended over and dominates the stage for the length of the production) was printed by us! Rule Britannia and Bespoke Printing!
Tickets are available to snap up online from The English National Opera website.
